The city was surveyed for House sparrows. The total count in the areas of Trivandrum city and outskirts thus stands at about 57, including Connemara market at the heart of the city and chala and attakulangara by-pass road which constitutes the outskirts.“The important revelation that is brought to fore by this year’s sparrow count is that the number of sparrows is dwindling mainly because of food scarcity.
